During the later stages of the urbanization in China,more and more attention is paid in the refinement of the architectural design and construction.Under the same conditions,the concise style is relatively more difficult in design and building,because the conciseness means people will unconsciously focus on the details,which will be inevitably magnified in their eyes and minds.The concise style actually requires more elaboration in design and constriction,so most of the concise-style buildings in the city are completed by large and medium-sized design institutes.Through a study on a project completed by gmp(Architekten von Gerkan,Marg and Partner),a top architectural design institutes famous in concise and refined style,we can learn the design logic and construction control behind its concise style and know how to find the balance between large scale and high quality.The author of this paper used to participate in a project which was designed by the gmp in China for the Jiangsu Provincial Industrial Technology Research Institute,and based on his more than two years'experience in this project,this paper will take this project as an example have a research on it from the aspects of the design consultation,the deepening solution,the production of the prototype,and the realization of the construction.The paper will expound the concise style of this project according to the author's^own understanding and it will sum up the problems and corresponding solutions encountered during the preliminary design,the deepening adjustment and the construction process to present a typical case study for the refinement in design and construction.The introduction part of this paper mainly expounds the purpose and significance of the research and introduces the object and origin of the research as well as the research methods and framework.The second chapter mainly profiles the project of this research,including the project location,the interpretation of its superior planning and design scheme,and the participating parties in this project in order to clarify the mutual relationship and working mechanism of the participating parties in project.In the Chapter3-Chapter5 which is the main body of this paper,the author conducts an analysis from three dimensions:the general graphic design,the individual graphic design(including interior design)and the elevation design,and each dimension will be separately analyzed from three aspects:the design logic,the deepening adjustment and the construction realization.In the analysis of the general graphic design,it concludes the design methods which integrates the homogeneous composition with the standard units,introduces the reasons,principles and strategies of the adjustment in the general design,as well as the realization of the sponge city,the squares,the stepping stones,and the green spaces in the general design.As an important part to shape the space and structure the building,graphic design requires for various professional knowledge in order to perfectly present the concise style expected by the architects.In the analysis of individual graphic design,this paper summarizes the design principles of efficiency priority and modulus coordination.The user's uncertainty brings about the different requirements for adaptability and flexibility in the design,and this paper will expound the technical methods adopted to meet these functional requirements.Through the production of the real-scale models,the characteristics of the materials used in the construction and the nodes of the contraction process can be understood.In the analysis of elevation design,this paper mainly introduces the facades of building based on the design principle to minimize the decoration from the aspects of matching,simplification and systematization.It also introduces the deepening adjustment in the design caused by the design errors,the cost-related reasons and the optimization of the details.And from the practice level,this paper analyzes the use of the honeycomb aluminum plates in model construction from three aspects:the size division,the width of the horizontal and vertical slits,and the opening mode of the windows.As to the design of the facades of the building,which will significantly determine the first impression of the people including the users,it requires the architects to have high-level skills to control the general factors,control the details,and control the main contradictions in order to perfectly present the faces of the building.The sixth chapter of this paper is for conclusion and discussion,and it shows the reference significance of this proj ect for the architectural design and construction of the similar projects in China.
