The Research On The Urban Residence Space Interior Design For The Aged

The continuous growth of China’s comprehensive strength has not only brought about the improvement in the material living standards of the people,but also led to a substantial increase in the average life expectancy.However,affected by the family planning policy and the changes in people’s views and values,the number of newborns has been declining.The ever-increasing average life expectancy and the decrease in the number of newborns have led to an increase in the proportion of the aged population,which is increasingly prominent and makes the provision for the aged a social problem urgently needing to be addressed.Affected by the traditional concepts in China,home-based care for the aged is still the most important way for this sector at the present stage in China.However,the existing residential designs are mostly based on the needs of young people,and there is not sufficient exploration on the physiological,psych ological and behavioral characteristics of the aged population,resulting in many life inconveniences for the aged.Therefore,the attention to and the research on the urban residence space interior design for the aged have practical significance for improving the quality of life of the elderly.In this paper,the psychological,physiological and activity characteristics of the aged were analyzed,and both domestic and foreign researches and practices on elderly-oriented urban residence space interior design were reviewed to explain reasonable interior space dimensions for the activities of the aged.Besides,the particularities of the group’s living demands and the deficiencies of China’s urban residential buildings in the aspect of interior space considerations for the aged were summarized,while the principles of safety,convenience and flexibility for the aged-oriented design of urban residential interior space were put forward.Taking the MingzhuJiayuan Community in Zaozhuang City as the example,the aged-oriented design practice of urban residential indoor living space was made from the perspective of application.Drawing on the experience of successful cases and combining with China’s national conditions and the specialties of the elderly group,this paper proposes an appropriate aged-oriented design method for urban residential interior space suitable for China’s national conditions.It is hoped that this research will provide reference for creating healthy and comfortable living environment for the aged,promote the improvement of the aged-oriented living environment,effectively improve the quality of life for the elderly and create safe and happy living environment for the later years.
