| The housing problem has always been a key issue directly related to people’s livelihood.With the development of the national economy,the improvement of policies,and the renewal of ideas,the housing system has changed a lot,and the design concept and technology have been constantly updated.With the continuous development of the market economy,the outdoor environment of residential areas has become an important reference indicator for measuring the quality of these areas.In recent years,China’s urban construction has entered a transitional period,in which it has changed from the “incremental development” model to the “inventory management” model.Therefore,it is necessary to rationally allocate and reuse existing urban spatial resources.The existing residential areas occupy a quite large part of the built-up areas,while those built in the 1980 s and 1995 s have considerable research value as they are out of line with the existing urban spaces due to the rapid development of urban construction in recent years and have great spatial potential.This thesis will conduct a depth-in research on the existing residential areas in Beijing combined with the sorting and induction of the development history of domestic and foreign settlements and the present theoretical research of enhancement methods,referring to the theory of “New Urbanism” and depending on the actual situation of existing residential areas,to consider the overall quality enhancement strategy of the outdoor environment in the residential area in the case of the overall environment and the connection with urban space.The first and the second chapter of this thesis will introduce the scope,method and structure of the research,and also expound the existing research results at home and abroad,analyze the development process of theory and practice,draw on historical experience.These two chapters focus on the principles and practices of the new urbanism theory,thus providing the corresponding theoretical basis for the following content.The middle part of this thesis(Chapter 3 and 4)starts with the investigation of the current situation of existing residential areas.It will illustrate the discovery and sorting of the general and individual problems of residential areas,consider the causes of the existing problems from all respects and provide the actual basis for the quality improvement strategy below.The last part is mainly based on the above theoretical and practical basis and driven by the principles of integrity,reciprocity,sharing and sustainability;it expounds the relevant strategies for enhancing outdoor environment quality of existing residential areas from the five levels – urban area,space,traffic,facility and technology,and combined with practical cases.Finally,it offers a summary of the above research as well as some prospects for the future. |
