The author found land intension of schoolyard after investigating several elementary schools of Wuhan,then analyze the cause knowing it’s because the high speed development that caused the improvement of urban density,school space is seriously squeezed by surroundings.Under such circumstances,the limitations of horizontal school distribution are becoming more and more obvious.Through case study,the author found that there were schools which excavate vertical space capacity in practice field.But there haven’t seen systematic vertical space use study.but there were much study of excavating vertical space in other design field.The author realize the importance of this study,aiming at using vertical space of elementary school and architecture in the high-density urban area,start research from 4 layers below.⑴Search home and abroad elementary school case of vertical space using,analysis types,search practicable design strategy.⑵Analysis elementary school design code,find restrict which may affect vertical space using.⑶Analysis and learn from vertical strategy from other design field,discuss the applicability in elementary school and architecture design.⑷Analysis the potential problem in elementary school and architecture vertical space using,study response strategy and measure.On the basis of all researches,summarize the strategy of vertical space using which elementary school can use to adapt to urban high density.
