The Study On The Correlation Between Urban Infrastructure And Urban Public Space And Activities

In the process of rapid urbanization,the demand for modern high efficient infrastructure is growing.Infrastructure is dramatically changing the urban tissue and terrain and greatly affecting the perception and experience of urban space.It often becomes " Terrain Vague " in the city,but few people realize that infrastructure is actually a kind of the "other" urban public space which is ignored.It has tremendous potential to promote the vigor of the city.By the interpretation of infrastructural urbanism and other related theories,the social and spatial characteristics of infrastructure was explained,cases selected from six infrastructural system explored the possibility of infrastructure as a public space.Wuhan Yangtze river bridge,which is full of vitality,was selected as a transportation infrastructure for investigation and analysis to explore the correlation between urban infrastructure and urban public space and activities.On the basis of the explanation of the historical evolution and characteristics of the public space of Wuhan Yangtze river bridge,the types and characteristics of its activities are analyzed,it turns out that the border effect and catalysis of its public space strongly guides people's activities.And people's activities can soften the public space of the infrastructure,give its cultural characteristic,make its evolution to vivid urban space.Finally it points out that infrastructure is a tool for people to improve the conditions of material life,as a material entity it also formed its own space.People can make use of its own space directly——infrastructural space.At first,the openness of the infrastructural space must be strengthened and no longer give person the sense of alienation "no admittance".The publicness of public goods determines the open space of infrastructure is public space.The huge size and long service span of infrastructure give its public space strong expressive,to some extent,to define the surrounding environment.If functions which are combined with the demand of people's activities,are given to infrastructural space,infrastructural public space will induce people's activities by its borders and terrain factors.Architecture should re-engage in urban public domain through infrastructure,it has great significance in the improvement of urban public space.
