Since reform and development,China’s economy has devel oped rapidly,and the road scale has also increased at an appreciable speed,but the occurrence of road pavement disasters is increasing year by year.Road thickness,as an i mportant indicator of road construction,plays a decisive role in the quality of road,so it is very important to detect the thickness of the road.At present,In China,artificial detection methods,such as drilling core method and excavation method,are o ften used for road thickness detection.These methods have caused great damage to the pavement,and are not representative and inefficient through interval sampling measurement.In recent years,ground penetrating radar(GPR),as an efficient shallow surface detection instrument,has been widely concerned.It is not only fast,high precision and no destructive,it has become an important method of road detection in the future.From the two aspects of GPR hardware equipment and data processing algorithm,this paper introduces in detail the method of detecting road thickness by using ground penetrating radar.Ground penetrating radar hardware is the premise and fo undation of the research.GPR information acquisition board is the core component of GPR,which will directly determine whether GPR can work normally.In this paper,using FPGA as the main chip and the chips of AD9852,AD7665,W5300 and the corresponding circuits,the functions of transceiver control,data acqu isition and data communication on the GPR information acquisition board have been completed,and the ground penetrating radar information acquisition board,which is fully functional and formally commercialized,has been successfully developed.GPR information acquisition board as an important part of data acquisition platform provides reliable data support for the research of the subject.GPR data processing is another important content of this paper.The ground penetration radar is used to detect the road thickness,and the relative stability and continuity of the road structure are used.This feature is combined with the layer tracking technology to quickly and accurately detect the thickness of the road.First,through the methods of filtrating DC component,automatic gain,deconvolution and median filtering,the data of the ground penetrating radar are corrected and processed,which can make the layer of the underground road clearer and easy to recognize.This paper uses the layer tracking technology based on the correlation algorithm,analyzes its shortcomings,and puts forward the improvement of the image edge detection algorithm by using the Canny algorithm.The experimental verification shows that the ground penetrating radar equipment developed in this paper and the proposed layer tracking algorithm are used in the road thickness detection.The error of the detection result and the actual "core sampling" result is less than 3%,which meets the requirements of the detection of the road thickness of the ground penetrating radar.The proposed method can be effective,rapid,accurate and nondestructive.Road thickness detection.
