Caves in the form of traditional residential buildings,which are known as native green buildings,are the oldest and most indigenous cultural forms of residential buildings at the Huangtu Highland of northwest China,these caves are energy-saving buildings with the best energy efficiency and extremely high comfort.Therefore,the transformation and design of traditional cave dwellings are in line with the development direction of China's future energy-saving buildings,and are more complying with the inevitable trend of future sustainable building development in the world.First of all,the article discusses the reasons and application values of the traditional cave dwellings renovation design from the perspective of the original ecology.Under the theoretical support of the original ecological design concept,the original ecological thinking of traditional dwellings and the sustainable development of their protection and utilization are analyzed.Then through in-depth analysis of the traditional cave dwellings in the status and ecological performance,summing up the traditional cave dwellings of the current status of the problem,the traditional cave dwellings are mainly targeted for the transformation of the type of population,from the residents of the traditional cave dwellings in the transformation of the demand and traditional cave dwellings transformation of people.The analysis of the needs of the habitat environment analyzes the relationship between supply and demand in the traditional cave dwellings.Secondly,under the guidance of the original ecological design concept,the principles and positioning of the traditional cave dwellings renovation design were finally proposed,and the traditional cave dwellings are reconstructed from both the architectural facade image and the spatial form,through morphological structure,material selection,and color effects.In the four aspects of performance and accessories,the key elements of the design elements in the transformation are discussed.Finally,the case studies of cave dwellings at domestic and overseas and examples of field surveys are analyzed to demonstrate the feasibility of the implementation of the transformation and to explore the design methods and elements that can be used for reference.By summing up the advantages and disadvantages,we can provide reference guidance for innovative ideas for the traditional practice of cave dwellings.This article takes the traditional cave dwellings in Qingyang city of Gansu province as an example to summarize the background data and the status issues,clarifing the necessity of transformation design and discussing the traditional research from the perspective of technical and spatial performance through the application of original ecological design theory and methods.The transformation design strategy of cave dwellings for the different groups of people and needs.The traditional cave dwellings with different architectural styles in the area are proposed for the corresponding design concept,which will provides useful reference for the construction of new countryside.
