Design And Finite Element Analysis Of Carbody Structure For CKD9D Diesel Locomotive

South Africa is an important country along the “21st century maritime silk road”.The country’s Durban port is an important port on the Indian Ocean coast and is also one of Africa’s busiest ports.According to the plan,South Africa will have more railways in the future to ease the growing demand for transport capacity.With the strong development strength and reliable application of locomotive technology,Dalian of CRRC further accelerates the development of the African railway market.The success of the project has profound implications for South Africa and the Dalian of CRRC.The project background,locomotive service environment,and overall technical parameters of CKD9 D type diesel locomotive are introduced.Locomotive carbody is designed as general layout required.The underframe design ideas in the early stage and the materials selected for the whole locomotive are introduced.Under the design ideas and the experiences learned from existing locomotives,the structure of underframe,driver’s cab,mechanical room,fuel tank,carbody and other accessories are designed and analyzed.The main components are illustrated in details.To meet the project requirements,verification calculation and structure improvement of CKD9 D type diesel locomotive carbody are carried out.With ANSYS,the detailed FEM of carbody structure is established.According to South Africa railway actual service conditions,13 cases are set.Part of the structure is improved as well in accordance with calculation,that tries to ensure a better performance in loco running.After finishing the new prototype of CKD9 D type diesel locomotive carbody,strength test validation for underframe is carried out as per relevant standards.Comparing with the test results and calculation reports,structure design of CKD9 D type diesel locomotive is further validated.CKD9 D type diesel locomotive is a kind of freight locomotive serviced on the main line.Its carbody development can not only meet the high duty diesel locomotive with high strength carbody requirements but also accumulate valuable experiences.The status of China diesel locomotive design is raised in the world.
