Revit is a three-dimensional parametric building design software for effectively creating Building Information Modeling(BIM).Revit broke the independence and unrelated collaboration model of the vertical sectional view in the traditional 2D design.At the same time,to create the 3D building model,it can automatically generate all views of the plane,elevation,section and schedule,thus saving a great deal of time which is spent drawing and processing drawings,so that the architect's energy can really be placed on the design rather than drawing and modifying.Based on extensive reading of the literature,this paper elaborates the definition and characteristics of BIM,combines the development status and prospect of bridge engineering,compares the application of CAD and BIM in the design and construction of cable-stayed bridges,and points out the advantages of BIM when used in the design and construction of cable-stayed bridges.Based on the Revit software family library modeling environment and the structural characteristics of the components,a parameterized family library of core components of cable-stayed bridges was established for the members with higher "reuse rate" in cable-stayed bridges.The Revit API(Application Programming Interface)was introduced and study Revit's secondary development process.Expanded the Revit software functional area,developed a program for modeling of cable-stayed bridges,added a cable-stayed bridge modeling tab page,and added panels and controls suitable for modeling of cable-stayed bridges on the card sheet,and use the external command invokes the component family to complete the modeling of the cable-stayed bridge.Based on the actual project case,the BIM model of cable-stayed bridge was established using the developed program.Compared with CAD model,the application advantages of BIM technology in the process of cable-stayed bridge modeling were summarized.
