The Improvement Research Of CS Company's Demurrage&Detention Charge Management And Control

Since June 2008,due to the slow growth in world GDP and rising container vessels,the contradiction of oversupply shipment capacity constantly increased,which lead to a sharp drop of container freight rate for a long time and many shipping companies fell into financial distress,some corporations closed down or merged and restructured in the world.In order to maintain core competitiveness,many liner companies adopt low-cost strategy and customer-centric strategy.As demurrage management involves more and wide link point in container management,which cost up to 12%of the total cost of the container transportation,strengthening and improving the management of container demurrage,not only can decrease the cost of container transportation,but also can promote customer service.How to improve corporate demurrage management has become an important factor affecting the overall management level of container shipping lines.According to the logical thinking of "ask questions-analysis problem-problem solving" from the perspective of demurrage improvement based on the present situation of CS company,using the method of literature research,comparative analysis,sum up,combining with the theory of process improvement and value chain management,this article first introduces the business process of container transportation and the basic knowledge of demurrage management,comprehensively analyze the problem of the enterprise in the management of container demurrage and reason therein.And then as per process oriented through theory with practice,operable improvement project is proposed for the defects in information system application,process management,risk management,data sharing and utilization of CS company's demurrage control.Finally,the feasibility of the improvement project is confirmed by comparison of the effect before and after the implementation of the improvement scheme,and the guarantee measures for the effective implementation of the improvement plan are explained.This improvement project is helpful to realize the company's data sharing,information exchanging,efficiency improving,cost reduction and risk prevention and control,will improve customer service,promote the implementation of enterprise's low cost and customer-centric strategy.
