Vehicle handling stability has long been a key direction of vehicle performance research.This performance plays a crucial role in the safety,controllability and anti-jam capacity of vehicle.Most of previous researches on vehicle stability remines to be improved for their long design period,high resource consumption and potential danger.The constant improvement of simulation technology has made it possible to conduct researches on handling stability with well-established computer simulation theory and high-performance simulation software.Simulation requires shorter design period,less manpower and material resources,and makes it possible to conduct demanding experiments.Besides,the simulation data is quite reliable and accurate,thus have guiding significance for improving cars' performance.This thesis,taking a SUV as the prototype,first got the characteristic experimental data of protype through experiments on subsystem characteristic test.Then the model of the suspension,steering,body,tire,brake,power transmission and other subsystems of the SUV were established by using the simulation software Car Sim so as to model the whole car.After that,an experiment was conducted on the handling stability of the protype vehicle,and the Car Sim model of the protype car was simulated on an open loop basis.Through the comparison between the results of the protype car and the model car,the precision of Car Sim was thus verified.After the precision of the model was verified,dynamics simulation analyses were made on six handling stability-related characteristics in accordance with the national standard GB/ T6362-2014 of the control stability test,including steady-state steering characteristic,transient-state steering characteristic,returnability and so on.Comprehensive evaluation was then made on the handling stability of the testes car under the guidance of QC/ T480-1999.Through the analysis of the simulation results,it was found that the handling stability of this car remained to be improved.At the end,the position of car's centroid and the wheel base were taken as the parameter for optimization design.Simulation proved that the stability performance of the vehicle has been improved after optimization.
