A Study Of National Agricultural Parks In Western China

As rural urbanization continues to develop in China,employment of rural residents has become an increasing urgent issue,a 'major factor that intensifies social conflicts.Under this circumstance,a concept of national agricultural park is specifically initiated in China,with the aim of building a harmonious society and protecting rural residents' interests.It hopes that this project could support a positive development of ecological and agricultural economic environment,and alleviate the employment pressure so that the rural residents could indeed benefit from the construction of new countryside.As a new model that integrates agriculture and tourism industry,the national agricultural park represents an innovation of leisure agriculture theories and contemporary agricultural development.By introducing the concept,context,features and status quo of national agricultural parks worldwide,this paper analyses agricultural aesthetics,environmental ecology and other theories necessary for the construction of national agricultural parks,laying a solid theoretical foundation for the implementation of the idea.It then explores the context,opportunities and challenges of promoting national agricultural parks in Western China on the basis of the author's previous working experience and study of the western region,and summarizes the existing models through analysis of global cases.In the final section of the paper,Mount Guandou in Yibin,Sichuan province is studied for the construction of national agricultural parks in Western China.On the basis of literature review and field survey,it investigates the agricultural park from aspects of advantages,functions,planning and landscape design,and makes a summary of the planning process of the project development in Western China.The concept of "inheriting culture,creating legend,and leaving legacy" has been promoted in Yibin city,pushing forward with development of numerous leisure parks in the local areas.Western China enjoys both advantages and disadvantages when developing the national agricultural parks.It,therefore,shall consider the local features with a clear theme,integrate agriculture,industry and culture,interconnection among primary,secondary and tertiary industry,and apply relevant theories to build the national agricultural park model for the western region in the future.
