With the speeding up of aging in our country and the improvement of social development,the number of older drivers and driving demand are rising.With the increase of age,older drivers physiology and the psychological quality is declining.Related studies show that,compared with the middle aged drivers,the perception of time,judgement and action time of the older drivers were significantly prolonged when they were in complex traffic,which could cause serious potential traffic accidents.Therefore,this paper will research the driving behavior characteristics and differences of the vehicle control of middle aged and older drivers using driving suitability testing equipments and the driving simulator,so as to enhance understanding of the older drivers,to provide real and effective scientific support to ensure the traffic safety of older drivers.The specific research contents of this paper include the following three aspects:(1)Conduct driving suitability test experiment.The indicators of psychological and physiological characteristics of drivers,including visual characteristics,psychological comprehensive ability and movement stability,were respectively tested.And explore the difference between the physiological and psychological aspects of middle aged and older drivers.(2)Conduct simulation driving experiment.Explore the differences of vehicle control behavior of the middle aged and older drivers in the start situation,urban road driving situation,ordinary highway driving situation,signal intersection situation and no signal intersection situation using the vehicle driving simulator.(3)A prediction model of vehicle control based on driving suitability is established.A multivariate linear regression model was established by using the driving suitability indicators as the independent variables and the vehicle control behavior(including speed,changing behavior,speeding behavior)as the dependent variable.The results show that the regression model has a good predictive effect on driving speed and speeding behavior of drivers on ordinary highway,as well as in urban road changing behavior.Further,elasticity coefficient,introduced in the regression model,to evaluate the the influence degree which the impact indicators on driver vehicle control behaviors.Study has found that age on the speed of the driver in the intersection,lane changing and overtaking behavior in road had the greatest influence,followed by the visual characteristics and motion stability.
