From Events To Space

Loos always advocated his architectural ideal by his radical speech.This paper begins with his articles which are published in 1897-1929,there put forward a find that Loos' attention to the event.Leading into the discussion of events,there is an analysis of the definition and discussion of events in different fields.And finally,we back to Loos' architecture,thinking Loos' architectural space by the perspective of the event.At the present stage,interiorly,the research of Loos mainly focused on the analysis of Raumplan or house's space pattern and the relationship between the line of sight.All of these are an analysis based on the results of spatial presentation.This paper back to Loos himself,start with his articles and grasping the clue that his attention to the event.Then discussing the meaning of event for Loos.After that,we choose Muller Villa house as a typical case to analysis how Loos put the consider of event into space and dealed with the relationship of construction logic between event and space.Due to the theory of Raumplan is not said by Loos,this concept is defined by his student Kulka,Johan van de Beek called in question whether the concept can be defined Loos' architectural space.He thought the concept is only for Loos' architecture,in addition there is nothing.so there is a dispute.Then Loos' space construction mechanism is not only based on the relationship of cubes,but more.This paper tries to prove that there is a complete narrative structure in Loos' architecture,and this is the core of his space.It is due to the attention of events.Firstly,Loos built the narrative structure,then he built the space.
