The Tactical Data Link(TDL)is a method of transmitting standardized digital information, articulating command and control system, weapon system and sensors to form a communication link for system operation. The level of application of TDL determines the success or failure of modern war.Existing TDLs cannot meet all operational requirements because they faced different types of operations in the early stages and were subject to the technology at that time;and the various TDLs that have been formed are difficult to replace in a short time,so coexistence of multiple TDLs becomes inevitable. However, due to differences in communication systems and message standards, tactical data links cannot be directly interconnected.Multi-Tactical Data Links gateway can realize interoperability between TDLs of different systems, enabling rapid transfer of tactical messages among TDLs and improving the level of information sharing.Research on multi-tactical data links gateway is of great significance to the improvement of combat capability. The main research topic of this project is the key technology of multi-data link gateway. The access control protocols and corresponding message standards of Link-11,Link-11B,Link-16 and TTNT data links are studied, and the routing protocols and cross-layer design methods in mobile ad hoc networks are introduced, which solves the problems of line-of-sight transmission with TDL and interoperability between different TDL,such as complexity, conversion rules and scalability issues. The main work and innovation of this thesis are as follows:(1)Because different message standards among data links, such as typical M-sequence messages and J-sequence messages,a message format conversion method is proposed; The data link gateway are classified, and Link-16 is taken as an example to analyze the homogenous gateway to solve the problem of line-of-sight transmission of data links. However, because of the shortcomings of homogeneous gateway, this thesis proposes to convert the traditional data link into IP and introduce a routing protocol to realize the heterogeneous gateway.(2)To solve the problem of excessive IP headers generated after introduce IP TDL,a robust IP header compression method adapted to tactical data link scenarios is proposed to reduce IP header overhead. Then,Based on AODV routing protocol,a QoS-TAODV routing protocol is proposed by introducing QoS parameters and a cross-layer design method, this protocol establishes routes by finding the optimal path for the minimum weight of each TDL and helps the gateway to solve the problem of forwarding between TDL.(3)Using OPNET to model the tactical data link gateway, including the access protocol of several TDL,IP compression module and QoS-TAODV routing protocol module to verification of interoperability and gateway performance. The simulation results show that the IP header compression scheme solves the problem of IP header overhead in the data link. The improved AOD V routing protocol is suitable for the gateway to select the data link with the optimal path. The gateway can resolve the data link due to the line-of-sight effect and the transmission distance limitation.Verify that the gateway is scalable to different TDL.
