Large space structures,such as solar arrays and large space antennas,are becoming more and more widely researched and applied.They also make the inflatable deployment mechanism develop towards way of lighter mass and smaller volume.Therefore,it is of profound significance to study the inflatable structure which has the high ratio of storage and light weight.But the development and research of such mechanism also face enormous challenges,after all,with the existence of gravity and atmospheric pressure on the ground,it is difficult to complete the test under condition of space environment and space experiments are very expensive,so it is very necessary for us to analyse inflatable structure by using the computer simulation in this paper.First of all,this paper discusses the basic theory of nonlinear large deformation,complex contact problem and Control Volume method in the simulation of pod bar mechanism inflatable deployment.Subsequently,the general finite element software LS-DYNA is used to create the components of the inflatable deployment mechanism,such as pod bar,gas column and velcro,and the functions of individual components are simulated.Then,based on the restart function,three processes of compression,curling and inflation are simulated under the condition of gravity and weightlessness respectively.Through the analysis of the simulation results,the new combination of pod and gas column is not only light weight and small volume,but also can be inflated smoothly under the coordination of velcro.Moreover,when the velcro failure force is contant,the influence of different mass flow rate on the expansion process is studied,and the corresponding relationship between the inflatable gas column pressure and the failure of the velcro is analyzed.This paper also explores the effect of different fixed position of velcro on inflating expansion.Finally,simulation and analysis of the folding and expansion of the whole space structure are carried out,a summary of the paper and the prospect are put forward.
