Transportation and economy are two eternal themes in the development ofhuman society.Looking at the history of China’s development,whether it is the "Silk Road" in the Western Han Dynasty or the "Belt and Road" of today,it allshows that the relationship between transportation and economic development isinextricably linked.The level of transportation development in a region can bemeasured by the degree of difficulty in reaching the region,and this degree ofdifficulty can be reflected by the availability of traffic.At present,the couplingefficiency of traffic accessibility and regional economic development have becomea subject of much concern for scholars.The paper take the county-leveladministrative units of Chongqing,Sichuan,Yunnan,and Guizhou as theevaluation units in the southwest region,and evaluated the accessibility ofhighway traffic and the level of economic development,and then used the physicalcoupling model method to study the area.A comprehensive analysis of thecoordinated development of traffic accessibility and economic coupling wereconducted.The content of the paper’s research mainly included the followingthree aspects:(1)Taking the four provinces and cities of Chongqing,Sichuan,Yunnan,andGuizhou in the southwest region as the research scope,we collected 2016 highway road network data and highway traffic statistical bulletin data for 2016 and statistics of provincial highway statistics for 2016;based on GIS,takingcounty-level administrative region as a research unit,the county accessibilitymodel and the county-accessibility model were used to evaluate the accessibilityof highway traffic in 438 districts and counties in four provinces in southwestChina.The comprehensive road accessibility index for each district/county unitwas calculated.(2)Using economic statistical data from four counties in southwesternprovinces and counties,based on the principles of availability,controllability andcomprehensiveness,9 indicators for the evaluation of the economic developmentof the county administrative units were screened out by frequency statistic law and the weight of each index was determine by entropy method as the GDP,percapita GDP,population,social fixed asset investment,and fiscal revenue,the totalretail sales of consumer goods,the per capita annual disposable income ofresidents,the number of employed people,the number of schools as indicators ofthe county level administrative unit economic development.(3)Introduced physical coupling model,classifying the calculated values ofthe coupling degree and coupling coordination degree of the county-level unit’sroad transport accessibility and economic development comprehensive indexwhich were analyzed by coupling function,getting the results of the county’s roadtraffic accessibility index,economic development index,and the degree ofcoupling and degree of coordination between the accessibility of the county andthe regional economy of 438 counties in four provinces and cities in southwestChina.The results were analyzed comprehensively by GIS spatial analysismethods and autocorrelation methods,reaching a conclusion of thecharacteristics and differences of the coupled and coordinated distribution oftraffic attainment and economic development in the Southwest region;theresearch results can provide reference and policy recommendations for theconstruction and economic development of highway traffic in the four provincesand cities in the southwest region. |
