MUJI sweeps the whole world rapidly with his promotion strategy of“no brand”and the simple products of high quality.Instead of different kinds of complex and specious design philosophies,MUJI takes the idea of“revealing the nature” as the design philosophy for the product package without excessive packaging,frills.The transparent or semitransparent package it adopts can not only meet the packing requirements but also be close to the customers.MUJI resists on his idea of putting quality first,being cheap but fine,simple and eco-friendly.Since the packing design in China has been emulating the international packages all the time and the theme of the century is green and economy,it is only a matter of time before the reduction packaging replaces the excessive packaging and becomes the mainstream of the market.This paper mainly uses literature research method,case analysis method and market research method,takes reduction as the basic point,conducts massive investigation and analysis on the product packaging design of MUJI in terms of materials,modeling composition and visual communication design.Then,the ways of reduction is stated through the research on the packaging of MUJI,and the following requirements shall be met: the reduction packaging shall possess the function of sustainable development;utility and beautification and environmental protection shallall coexist;the structure shall be innovated under the premise of satisfying the basic needs and simplified with combinative packaging instead of distributed packaging;packaging material which is beneficial to human body and friendly to the environment shall be actively researched and developed,and the reduction packaging materials shall be chosen as much as possible;the recovery system shall be optimized with the interaction among community,costumers and designers.At last,on the basis of the political and economic environment that MUJI exists,from the perspective of government,costumers,enterprises and other sectors of the society,the ways to create a reduction packaging atmosphere shall be researched.All the people shall advocate green packaging,resist excessive packaging and make efforts to realize the reduction packaging design of products.
