A belt conveyor is a friction-driven mechanism for transporting material in a continuous manner,which is widely used in mining,metallurgy,coal,grain,ports,power plants and other industrial and agricultural areas.With the emergence of belt conveyor in long-distance,large scale,and the new type arising,the traditional design concept that may cause bias,the traditional design methods and software are unable to adapt to the large data computing requirements of point by point multi-condition engineering.So the new CAD software for belt conveyor is needed to improve the calculation model and the design efficiency.In the engineering design specifications of China,there is no algorithm of tension and resistance for new types of conveyors,such as pipe conveyor and curved arcs,and no resistance formula for special conveyor.So in this paper,the formula of resistance calculation is supplemented through mechanical analysis,and the simplified dynamic algorithm is proposed,which is satisfied to engineering design.The design software of belt conveyor is developed by used Excel and VBA programming platform.Besides the tension and resistance calculation module for complex,long-distance,multi-types,and large scale belt conveyor,the conveyor equipment spectrum database is embedded.The software can output system design report as well as equipment list,which is convenient for the further design.The design and optimization performance is validated by the real engineering in the drive layout,volume design,and system optimization process.
