Been undergoing industrial structure adjustment,Fuzhou in the post-industrial age has a quite different industrial structure from before.Fuzhou,a pioneering industrial-developing in China's southeastern coastal areas,is the birthplace of modern Chinese industry, and has far-reaching effect on modern Fujian's industrial development.Along its industrial developing history,Fuzhou had an embryo modern industry in the late Qing Dynasty, yet endured depression in Anti-Japanese War when a large number of factories were immigrated to inland. In the period of reform and opening up,the industry in Fuzhou enjoyed a reprosperity. The up-and-down industrial developing process of Fuzhou differs itself from other cities. Thus, study of industrial heritage should focus not only on present situation, but also on past evolution of industrial history pattern,so as to grasp its historical development and to make actual sense to the cultural orientation of Fuzhou. In this regard,by referring to related disciplines such as urban geography, regional economics, architecture and urban planology, this thesis applies the spatial analysis technology of geographic information system, and analyzes, diachronically and quantitatively, the industrial structure of urban Fuzhou from late Qing Dynasty to the end of the 1980s.It tends to explore the pattern of Fuzhou's industrial structure evolution and its urbanization process of corresponding period, and to sum up the potential relationships between industrial historical structure evolution and urbanization.A total of four parts are included in this thesis. In the first part, both the spatial graphics of industrial enterprises in the then Fuzhou and the corresponding urban spatial data will be established.A research based on analyzing these data explores from many aspects the formation and evolution of Fuzhou's industrial historical structure. The second part analyzes diachronically the distribution characteristics and evolution pattern of Fuzhou's industrial structure according to time sequence. The third part studies the evolution of Fuzhou's industrial structure and its urbanization process of corresponding period in macro view, and analyzes correlation between industrial development and Fuzhou's environmental factors, traffic factors, socioeconomic factors and spatial morphology expansion. In the fourth part, the historical industrial structure of Fuzhou is compared to current structure,so as to analyze the "de-indstrialization" process in Fuzhou, and to provide references for later urban planning and industrial development. In the end, this thesis summarizes Fuzhou,s industrial development on basis of former analysis.Suggestions for future industrial development, urban planning and protection of industrial heritage are put forward.A significant breakthrough of this thesis lies in the creative application of method of GIS spatial analysis technology on studying the industrial historical structure evolution, which,is hoped to start a discussion on developing new research methods among later scholars.
