Research On The Reconstruction Strategy Of Old Streets In Cities And Towns

With the rapid growth in society and economic,urban-rural integration has accelerated the further demanding for the level of living and surrounding environment to residents.Due to the antiquated urban planning in the 1980s to 1990s,there are different forms of old neighbourhoods distributed all over the country.Although these neighbourhoods are not like the typical historical residential districts with high preservation and research values,they act as the integral parts of the cities.However,several problems are company with those outdated districts-chaotic distribution of the districts,imperfect infrastructure,degraded living environment and inefficient land usage.Thus,there is been an upsurge of urban renewal movements are in recent two decades,including redesign and replanning of the old district and business centre.In this paper,the redesign of Zhicheng street is based on the background of urban renewal movements.The town of Zhicheng has the most population and become increasingly important in the economically in Jiyuan city,Henan province.Zhicheng has a very special historical background and it is well placed for commercial and residential areas.Besides,the buildings on Zhicheng street,mostly with a only few levels,were built by the end of the 1970s to 1980s.The overall architectural style in this region is simple and crude.Meanwhile,the facades of those buildings are faded and weathered by the ageing which severely affects the appearance of the street.Due to the defective layout of the traffic planning,the street has a very serious traffic problems.So,based on the critical problem in urban renewal,this paper provides a case study showing the applicability and feasibility of the urban renewal method and analyse the problem during the renewal process.Also,several strategies,discussions and recommendations are provided in the paper.
