As an advanced transportation organization pattern, truck and trailer transport(TTT),with the advantages of great flexibility, low cost and being environment-friendly,there is a great expansion capacity for development in the transportation market. However, due to factors such as technological backwardness, environmental conditions, and model approval,it has not been able to develop rapidly on a large scale. The lack of scientific and reasonable scheduling of vehicles is one of the important limiting factors. This paper takes the truck and trailer transport network in the container terminal transportation system as the starting point, and studies the problem of coordinated scheduling of truck and trailer transport.Firstly, this paper analyzed the theories, methods, and models of trucks and trailers routing problem(TTVRP).Then proposed the TTVRP mode in the transportation network surrounding the container terminal.Based on discrete events, the task is broken down and the scheduling optimization model of TTVRP is constructed by residual time matrix. The mission is to minimize the size of vehicle and transport cost.To solve such a multi-objective and multi-modal combinatorial optimization problem,an improved multi-objective evolutionary algorithm(IMOEA)is used in the paper via the detailed analysis of specialized genetic operators,variable-length representation and local search via the detailed analysis of specialized genetic operators,variable-length representation and local search.Large-scale experimental results demonstrated that the model and algorithms proposed in this paper get an efficient and practical applications in TTVRP.Besides, the correlations among different variables has been probed, such as the number of trucks and trailers, the trailer exchange points, and the utilization of trucks in the routing solutions.
