Study On Protection And Renewal Of The Old Commercial Streets In Shuangxi

Chinese traditional settlement rooted in agricultural civilization is the mutual consequence caused by human activity and natural environment,and is the reflection of laboring people's collective intelligence.Nowadays,many precious ancient settlement of villages and towns preserved are facing all kinds of problems.Therefore,immediate effective protection and renewal of these precious traditional settlement has important agricultural,social and humanistic significance.Shuangxi town of Pingnan district was awarded the famous historical and cultural town in China.From Yongzheng Period of Qing Dynasty to 1950,the town was the location of Pingnan county and was the important commercial town which connected the east and the north of Fujian province.In the ancient town,there are many historical sites,integrated pattern of streets and lanes,fields of traditional architecture and abundant historic culture,which make Shuangxi the representative of pocket town in Qing Dynasty.The four old commercial streets of the ancient town are preserved with its traditional pattern and the important component part of ancient Shuangxi town.The paper takes four old commercial streets of Shuangxi as the research object and means to explore the approaches of protecting and renewing the traditional architecture in ancient villages and towns.As the participant of transforming old commercial streets in the ancient town,the author concerns a lot about the future development of old streets and ancient town.This paper studies on the settlement of Shuangxi in the first place,through the literature and real investigation illustrating the natural conditions,historical development,historical and cultural value and morphological characteristics of the settlement.On this basis,the paper makes a deep analysis on streets pattern and architectural feature along the streets and combs the current situations and problems of old commercial streets through many investigations.In the end,based on the analysis of the ancient town and old commercial streets,according to current situations and problems,the paper puts forward the the objectives,contents and principles of protection and renewal of old commercial streets and develops related strategys.On this basis,the paper carrys out orresponding design of protecting and renewing the old commercial streets from six aspects,hoping to provide a reference for future development of the ancient town and old commercial streets.
