The Analysis Of The Contemporary Chinese Regional Architecture's Material Expression From The Bai Bi Aesthetic

The Chinese regional architecture primely consists of two different developing directions——mordernizing the Chinese traditional architecture and territorializing the modernism architecture.The second one is the better direction in today 's analysis.These architectures are based on the modernism architecture system,searching for expressing the regional materials and technologies in today's architecture design.The “Bai Bi” is one of the traditional aesthetic,researching the “decoration and material” problem.The thesis studies the material expression in the contemporary Chinese regional architecture from the “Bai Bi” aesthetic,discovering the regional characters and developing direction of the Chinese contemporary architecture.The first chapter: the thesis introduces the definition of the “Bai Bi” aesthetic and the Chinese regional architecture's material expression,describes the meanings of the analysis of the material expression in the contemporary Chinese regional architecture.The second chapter: the contemporary one has four main characters: architecture being framework;the space and the skin being freedom;architecture interface being materialization;material expression being diversification.These characters determine the importance of the material and material expression in the contemporary architecture.The third chapter: being one of the Chinese traditional nature aesthetic,the “Bai Bi” aesthetic originates from the Taiji “Bi” divinatory symbol.This aesthetic analysis the “decoration and material” problem in the art creation from the angle of “wen” and “zhi”.The aesthetic has many characters——“wen zhi bin bin”;“shang zhi su”;“su yi wei xuan” and “gui zi ran” etc.The theory has influenced the Chinese art creation and daily life for thousands years.It's one of the aesthetic idea and one kind of life attitude.The forth chapter: the thesis analysis the “decoration and material” problem from the “Bai Bi” theory and get the art creation principles including “ju jue zai xian”,“you zhi er wen” and “gui zi ran”,which fit the “Bai Bi” aesthetic.The fifth chapter: the thesis analysis several contemporary Chinese regional architecture with the principles got above,classify the architectures and their material expression into three different types,which are “cheng xian zi ran”,“ti xian zi ran” and “zai xian zi ran”.In summary,the thesis researches the “Bai Bi” aesthetic and the contemporary Chinese regional architecture,gets the material expression principles from analysing the contemporary architecture characters in “Bai Bi” aesthetic theory,and concludes the regional architecture characters of the contemporary Chinese regional architecture.
