Impact Of Environmental Literacy On Farmers' Soil Friendly Planting Behavior

Nowadays,the problem of soil pollution has become another serious ecological and environmental pollution problem after water pollution and air pollution in China.Soil pollution seriously endangers the agricultural production environment and food security,and thus harms human health.How to effectively control soil pollution has become a problem that needs to be solved urgently.The problem of soil pollution mainly stems from the large-scale application of chemical fertilizers and pesticides and the improper treatment of agricultural waste.Farmers,as the main body of soil utilization,naturally become the "starters" of the problem of soil pollution.Generally speaking,individual literacy affects individual behavior.Farmer's environmental literacy is closely related to farmers' soil friendly planting behavior.The level of environmental literacy directly affects farmers' behavioral decision-making during agricultural production.Therefore,it is of great practical significance and theoretical value to study the impact of farmers' environmental literacy on farmers' soil friendly planting behavior.Based on systematically sorting out relevant research at home and abroad,this paper builds on farmers' behavior theory,behavior decision theory,environmental literacy theory,and media literacy theory as guidance,and considers the mediating role of media literacy.The theoretical analysis framework of the impact is supported by 797 micro household survey data from three provinces of Shaanxi,Gansu,and Hebei.The binary logistic was used to examine the farmer's environmental literacy on the farmer's pesticide application behavior,fertilization behavior,straw returning to the field,and protective farming.Behavior and soil improvement and remediation behavior,and using the Heckman sample selection model to empirically analyze the impact of farmers' environmental literacy on the farmers' soil friendly planting behavior,and on this basis,a group regression model was used to test media literacy in farmers' environmental literacy and farmers' Moderating role in the relationship of soil friendly planting behavior.The research results show that:(1)The farmers' environmental literacy has a direct effect on the farmers' soil-planting behavior.Among them,farmers' environmental cognition has a significant positive effect on whether farmers implement soil-friendly cultivation and the degree of implementation.Farmers' environmental sentiment has a positive effect on whether farmers implement soil-friendly cultivation and the degree of implementation.Farmers' environmental skills have a positive correlation with the implementation of farmer's soil-planting behavior and the degree of implementation.Farmers' environmental beliefs have a significant positive impact on the implementation of farmers' soil-planting practices.Farmers' environmental literacy is an important factor affecting farmers' soil-planting practices.In addition,in the characteristics of individual heads of households and the characteristics of peasant households,gender and the educational level of the head of household,the scale of family land management also have different degrees of influence on the farmer's soil-planting behavior.(2)The farmer's media literacy has a regulating effect on the farmer's environmental literacy-the farmer's personal soil planting behavior.When farmers have a high media literacy,it indicates that farmers have a strong ability to transform and receive information.This ability makes it easier for farmers to understand the soil-friendly planting behavior,and the more likely they are to implement soil-friendly in the process of agricultural production.Cultivation and improvement of farmers' media literacy means that farmers' environmental literacy can be better transformed into their own environmental behavior.Based on this,the article proposes the following policy recommendations:(1)The government should use various public media to strengthen environmental publicity and education,so that the concept of environmental protection goes deep into the countryside and into the hearts of the people,so as to improve the environmental awareness of farmers.Organize farmers' environmental protection participation activities,increase farmers' participation in major environmental commemorative day publicity activities,awaken farmers' awareness and emotions to protect the environment,enhance farmers' environmental emotions and environmental beliefs,and thus promote the transformation of farmers' behavior.(2)Carry out agricultural production training services,strengthen farmers' understanding and acceptance of new agricultural technologies,improve farmers' environmental skills,and enable farmers to find environmental problems,analyze the causes,and be able to solve problems.At the same time,it is necessary to set up corresponding subsidies for soil-planting technology or behavior incentives to increase farmers' enthusiasm for implementing soil-planting.
