Research On The Application Of Jianghan Shadow Play’s Pattern In Fashion Design

Jianghan Shadow Play is a comprehensive folk intangible cultural heritage integrating light and shadow,carving,painting,music and literature.Its factions are mature,its music for voices is unique and simple,its carving skills are skillful,its patterns are rich and exquisite,its style is humorous and lively,and it has been loved and respected by the majority of people.Since the Ming and Qing Dynasties,Jianghan Shadow Play has been blending with local paper-cut,wood carving,drama and other folk arts,witnessing the rise and fall of Jianghan Plain for more than 500 years,which has a high value of cultural and artistic heritage.However,with the development of social economy and the impact of modern entertainment forms,the audience of Jianghan Shadow Play is seriously aging.In addition to the increase of performance cost,the tedious production process,the old story of the play,the lack of inheritors and other factors,makes its development status very decadent.Therefore,the research on inheritance,protection,development and innovation of this subject is imminent.In view of this situation,this subject took the cultural connotation and artistic representation of the shadow play’s patterns as the point cut,aiming to use the digital extraction and reconstruction design method to excavate the design value of Jianghan Shadow Play’s patterns in modern creative fashion.Author used the method of field investigation,literature research and empirical research to explore from three parts:the first part is the theoretical research and digital extraction of the shadow play’s patterns.From the perspective of Chu culture,author discussed the deep regional cultural characteristics of Jianghan Shadow Play,and analyzed the exquisite and rigorous production process of its shadow play’s patterns combining with on-the-spot investigation and on-the-spot interview.Then,based on the professional theories of art and graphics,this subject analyzed the artistic features of Jianghan Shadow Play in pattern,color and shape.After classifying them,author extracted patterns with digital technology,established a vector patterns database,and expounded the artistic design and aesthetic value of shadow play’s patterns.The second part is case analysis.Author extended the perspective to the innovative design of Chinese shadow play in the fields of cultural and creative products and modern fashion design,and summarized that the combination of shadow play’s patterns and modern design can be achieved through the transformation of carriers,the refinement of patterns,the expression of hollowing out,and the deconstruction of colors,so as to provide theoretical basis and practical guidance for subsequent research.The third part is the creative design of thissubject.On the basis of the previous article,author selected the representative vector pattern of shadow play and developed a young and interesting cultural and creative product design with the carrier of daily necessities.Then digital printing and laser carving technology were used to apply the image of the shadow play and auspicious pattern to the "Shadow · Image" series of fashion design works,which proved the feasibility and practicability of the subject direction,and also opens a new path for the inheritance,protection,development and innovation of Jianghan Shadow Play.It is hoped that Jianghan Shadow Play can show its own artistic charm and design value through innovative fashion design,and promote the activation and innovation of its shadow play’s pattern in the modern context.
