Design And Application Of Gradual Change Form In Modern Dress

As early as 3,000 years ago was the concept “gradual changes” developed by Chinese ancestors.The establishment of the concept is considered a macro context evolved mainly through “progressive approach,gradual accumulation,contact and edification,and gradient”.Gradient contains varied forms of representation.It can be a process from specific to abstract,or reverse,a process from a large scale to a small scale,or from a small scale to a large scale,and so on.So prevalent are the gradient forms in daily life that they are recognized as regular natural visual phenomena.From visual aesthetic perspective,they hold a strong sense of form aesthetic and a natural aesthetic appeal.One type of aesthetic forms,the gradient forms have been in extensive use by designers in fashion design.Thanks to their form diversity in expression,designers are enabled to flexibly exercise different representation patterns.Their final works often bring unexpectedly surprising visual effects and exhibit distinctive styles.With China's upgrading economic strength and broadening international,modern formal attire acts an evidently important part in domestic social life.Formal suits and gowns become increasingly popular for more consumers.Among them the ones in gradient style harbor a significant market potential both at home and abroad.This paper focuses on exploring the design and application of the gradient forms in modern formal attire through summarization and conclusion of theories and practice analysis of relevant cases,in an attempt to provide ringing support for modern formal attire design principles and speed up its market to grow vigorously.The design and application methods of gradient forms in modern formal attire are the chief subject of this paper.First,the concept of gradient forms was expounded by organizing and concluding a vast of runway photos,fashion magazines,and books and literatures.Then,the design principles of gradient forms were analyzed,and relevant design thoughts were summarized from the perspective of visual aesthetic.Besides,the current mainstream modeling categories and genres of gradient-style formal attire were investigated in markets.Combined with fashion trends,the application,approaches,and techniques of gradient formdesigns in recent modern formal attire were also analyzed.At last,we summed up from a great many design practices and cases the distinctive charm,styles,and representations of current gradient forms in modern formal attire design.Based on above works,the gradient forms are found to harbor artistic appreciation,while modern formal attire to possess commercially practical use.The application of modern formal attire as a carrier to deliver the artistic characteristics of gradient forms introduces designers a wider range of design ideas,and also open up the prospect of modern formal attire market.
