| Since “going out” has been raised to the national strategic level,the scale of China’s outward foreign direct investment(OFDI)has achieved a 14-year increase.While the scale of OFDI is expanding,The 18 th National Congress of the Communist Party of China first proposed "Beautiful China" as the grand goal of ecological civilization construction,indicating that China’s environmental quality issues closely related to the open economy has received unprecedented attention.Under the background of continuously expanding the scale of OFDI and vigorously promoting the construction of ecological civilization,the influence of OFDI on China’s environmental quality has gradually attracted the attention of scholars.In the existing research,most scholars regard OFDI as a whole to study its impact on China’s environmental quality.However,the economic scale,industrial structure and technology level of developed and developing economies are quite different.Different OFDI may have different effects on China’s environmental quality.Therefore,in the perspective of differentiation to explore the different mechanism of the impact of different flows of OFDI on China’s environmental quality and the different terminal impact of different flows of OFDI on China’s environmental quality have agreat theoretical and practical significance.This paper sorts out the related theories of OFDI and its relationship with the environment,and deduces the mechanism of OFDI affecting the environment of home country based on the perspective of differentiation.This paper constructs a simultaneous equation model,panel data of 30 provinces and autonomous regions(excluding Tibet)from 2003 to 2016 were selected,and the impact of OFDI on environmental quality was examined based on the perspective of differentiation.The study found that: Firstly,OFDI flowing to developed economies has deteriorated China’s environmental quality through scale effect,and improved the environmental quality of China through technological effects.The structural effects are not significant.Combining the three effects,OFDI flowing to developed economies improves China’s environmental quality;Secondly,OFDI flowing to developing economies has deteriorated China’s environmental quality through scale effect.The structural effects and technical effects are not significant.Combining the three effects,OFDI flowing to developing economies has worsened China’s environmental quality;Thirdly,the results of the consistency test show that the OFDI of the six regions have improved their environmental quality,consistent with the conclusions at the national level.The size of the improvement effect is positively related to the degree of regional economic development. |
