Research On Social Pollution In Song Dynasty

At present,the problem of pollution has become a global topic.The importance of pollution reflects the deep understanding of modern humans on environmental sanitation.The problem of environmental pollution is not unique to modern society.From the existing historical books,we can see that the ancients also suffered from environmental pollution,and it was quite serious.The development of human society always has the problem of pollution,but it is only a matter of degree.The high prosperity of the Song Dynasty will inevitably bring some pollution problems.The diversification of pollution sources is concentrated in the production and living areas.Many production and living pollution sources not only cause certain pollution to surrounding waters,air and soil,but also threaten human health and even cause epidemics.The emergence of the pollution crisis forced the two Song governments to formulate a series of measures to deal with it.The Song Dynasty government’s measures in the treatment of water pollution mainly included sewage treatment,water purification,water body supervision agencies,regular dredging of river channels,formulation of laws,and crackdown on polluted water areas.Behaviors;in terms of air pollution control,mainly planting trees in forests and conducting greenery campaigns,self-examination,selection of sages and punishment,worship of the gods,etc;in terms of street pollution control measures,tidy street hygiene,clean up garbage,and formulate laws,Severe punishment for invading streets and setting up right graves and leaking gardens to prevent contamination by corpses.
