The Furniture Design In The Boarding Elementary School On The Remote Areas

To develop the education of the remote areas,China established boarding schools for the children whose home are far away from the school.These children have limited resources to enter a satisfactory school.The centralized schools on the downtown are constructive for teaching,integrating the educational resources,and contributing a better learning and living environment for students.Although the boarding school model has these advantages,most rural towns cannot provide sufficient furniture for the elementary school students due to the lack of fund.Meanwhile these schools are problematic to manage and their furniture is not well performed in the space utilization.Some scholars studied about the health of the students in the boarding primary schools,the living and studying environment of them is not satisfactory.The students living in the elementary school are different from the children in the kindergarten and the college students who leave home for further education.Besides warmth and care,they desire an individual space,which is vital to cultivate their characters and form the unique personalities.We took the Dongguan School in the Qi County,Kaifeng City,Henan Province as an example and researched on the layout of the boarding primary school,combined with its furniture in the dormitory.To investigate the problems occurred in using the furniture,we conducted a survey on the mental health and accommodation satisfaction.The questionnaire includes hardware environment,student management,academic pressure,rest and exercise,relationship between teachers and students etc.With the results of the survey,we proposed some countermeasures on the design of the furniture used in the boarding primary school,solved the problem with the modularization design,enhanced the education level of the boarding schools,which promotes the healthy growth of the children.This furniture can also satisfy the requirements of the basic living,studying,rest and entertainments.
