A Study Of Design On Modular Furniture

In the 21st Century,the furniture industry of China is in such situation:One,the products supply is more than the demand and there is severe unbalance between effective supply and demand,which is not good for the unification of economic development of furniture industry and the environment sustainable development.Two,it is a ubiquitous phenomenon that original works are far less than imitations and product homogeneity exist extensively,therefore the customers' individual needs cannot be met.Three,the manufacturing process is not so advanced,which directly lead to the long production period,complex-ed variety,low standardization and high production cost.Therefore,modulization combination furniture is coming into the public.To guide the furniture design in the modularization theory,people could use modules to form modular and normalize the furniture components to save materials and enhance the efficiency.And also though this modularization,various and multifunctional furniture could be produced to meet the customers requirement.This paper has conducted comprehensive analysis and research on the modularization design at home and abroad,combing with human engineering,relevant products dimension restriction as well as basic specification and dimension of furniture design,and try to find the modules with high match-up to guide the design of modularized combination furniture.And in order to shorten the production period of modularized combination furniture and realize the rapid and reasonable dis-assembly among furniture components,a new combination assembly concept has been proposed,that is,in the help of rapid-assembly framework,based on the components modularization and free change of various installation structures,different furniture system design planning would be formed.This paper is in five chapters and the first chapter is about the research background and purpose,also this paper has made some analysis and conclusion on the current situation of modulation combination furniture.The second chapter is analyzing some concerned issues regarding the combination furniture and modulization.The key point of third chapter is to elaborate on the design theory,design necessity,design principle and design elements of modulization combination furniture.The fourth chapter is about the design practice of modulization combination furniture.In this chapter,based on some basic modules parameters,the modular has been formed and one set of combination furniture has been designed.In the last,also one rapid assembly framework has been design,though various installation structures,different combined furniture system comes into reality.The fifth chapter is about the conclusion,it conducts conclusion on the researches in this paper.
