In the design of an oil pipeline, the Economicalal flow velocity is the main basis for determining the alternative diameters of the pipeline. In this paper, the objective function is to minimize the present value of the total cost in the calculation period.A mixed integer non-linear programming model for optimizing the overall process plan of unheated oil pipeline is established, and the enumeration method is used to solve the model.Based on the model and its solution method, the author compiles the corresponding software for optimizing the overall process plan by using MATLAB language. With this software as a tool, the optimized overall process design for unheated oil pipeline are obtained respectively for a hroughput range(200×10~4?3200×10~4 tons/year).Based on the design transportation volume and pipe diameter corresponding to these optimization schemes, the Economical transportation volume and Economical flow velocity intervals of each pipe diameter are determined respectively, and the Economical flow velocity intervals of all pipe diameters are combined to obtain a more general Economical flow velocity interval. In order to make the recommended Economical flow velocity range more applicable, the overall process optimization design of the unheated oil pipeline was carried out for North Xinjiang crude oil,Tarim crude oil and Tuha crude oil.The Economical flow velocity ranges of three kinds of oil products were obtained, including North Xinjiang crude oil(1.14?1.88m/s),Tarim crude oil(0.86?1.78m/s),Turpan-Hami crude oil(0.84?1.75m/s),and the influence of various Economical parameters as the basic conditions of design on the economical flow velocity intervals is analyzed.
