With the increasingly serious environmental problems, environmental education with the concept of sustainable development as the core has become a universal consensus on the construction of ecological civilization. The World Natural Heritage,as a world-class non-renewable human heritage,is seriously threatened by the development of heritage tourism.Environmental education has become a joint point between heritage sites development and protection. As the active subject and tourism builder of heritage sites, the development of environmental education on the residents is of great significance to the sustainable development of heritage sites. This paper constructs an index system for evaluating the effect of environmental education on residents of World Natural Heritage Sites by means of literature research,Delphi method and analytic hierarchy process and takes the Wulingyuan world natural heritage site as an example for empirical study, obtaining the following research conclusions:(1)Through five rounds of expert consultation, the evaluation index system of environmental education effect for residents of World Natural Heritage Sites was constructed. The system covers six evaluation dimensions of environmental knowledge, environmental skills, environmental awareness, environmental ethics, environmental behavior and environmental emotion, and its weight sorting is: environment behavior(0.2394)> environmental awareness(0.2069)> environmental emotion(0.2058)> environmental skills(0.1504)> environmental knowledge(0.1186)> environmental ethics(0.0789);(2)The residents of Wulingyuan World Natural Heritage Site scored 71 points on environmental education, which is at a "good" level,of which environmental ethics(86 points)is at a "especially good" level, environmental awareness(79 points)and environmental emotions(75 points)are at "Very good" level, environmental behavior(68 points)is at a "good" level, while there is a lot of room for improvement in the educational effect of environmental knowledge(59 points)and environmental skills(57 points);(3)Construct IPA comparative analysis chart based on evaluation index weight(importance)and mean value(expression).Environmental awareness and environmental emotion are located in the maintenance area, environmental ethics in the over-strengthening area, environmental knowledge and environmental skills in the secondary strengthening area, and environmental behavior in the key strengthening area. The education of residents' environmental behavior, environmental knowledge and environmental skills should be strengthened;(4)There are significant differences in the effects of environmental education of residents with different genders andeducation levels. The perception of environmental education of male residents is stronger than that of female residents. The higher the education level, the better the environmental education effect of residents.According to the research conclusions, the following suggestions are proposed to improve the effect of environmental education on the residents of the World Natural Heritage Sites:(1)Improve the effect of environmental knowledge and skills education by enriching educational contents, innovating educational approaches and distinguishing educational objects,so as to lay a solid foundation for residents' environmental protection ability;(2)Deepen environmental awareness and emotion education by establishing environmental education bases and encouraging residents to participate in collaboration to stimulate residents' endogenous motivation for environmental protection;(3)Promote legislative supervision and incentive measures of environmental education of heritage sites to encourage residents' external behaviors of environmental protection.
