Lane change vehicle maneuvering angle could have a substantial influence on traffic flow and safety as a result of their interfering influence due to surrounding vehicles. The interference effect of lane changing could be more pronounced when vehicles maneuvers at higher maneuvering angle as compared to lower maneuvering.Different vehicles maneuvers at different maneuvering angle during a lane change. This alteration in maneuvering angle is due to the influence of surrounding vehicles which impose on the lane change vehicle. This study is exploring the factors, which influence on the lane change vehicle due to surrounding vehicles and their impact on traffic safety and operation. So,there is a need for accurate mathematical modeling of maneuvering angle during the lane changing on the freeway. For developing these models real data are used to set up explanatory variables and to the evaluation of models. This study will help traffic engineer and manager to a better understanding of the how various lane change maneuvers are influenced by surrounding traffic conditions and the impact of maneuvering angle on traffic operation and safety. The results showed that the trained Neural Network model achieved an accuracy of 82.7%,while the accuracy of GLM is 47.2% in predicting the influence of surrounding traffic characteristics on maneuvering angle of lane change vehicles. In case of predicting flow change and collision risk due to maneuvering behavior of vehicles, the Neural Network has achieved accuracy of 51.3% and 59.9% respectively.Lower gap and speed caused vehicles to maneuvers at higher angle which has negative impact on traffic operation and safety. To determine the relationship between input and output variables support vector regression and statistical model has been used for analysis.Statistical model showing slightly better performance as compared to SVR.The result shows that there is statistical evidence to indicate that the surrounding vehicles have an influence on maneuvering behavior of vehicles and maneuvering angle has a significant impact on traffic safety and operation. This implies that autonomous vehicles should be programmed differently depending upon the surrounding vehicles traffic.
