In the period after 1978,China's rapid economic development has made oil procurement to become a top agenda for the central government.With depletion of domestic reserves,China has become the largest net importer for petroleum,second to the United State,reflecting China's annual increase in energy consumption.After the reorganization of the Chinese oil industry and the promotion of the'Going-Out' strategy by Chinese NOCs,China ventured into sourcing overseas oil to adequately meet the domestic demand.Sub-Saharan Africa has been one of the targeted region for Chinese petroleum investment and procurement.Considering the multi-dimensional implication of sourcing oil in other countries,China has employed oil diplomacy as a tool to gain access to oil resources in Africa.Using the cases of Angola,Nigeria and Ghana,it can be revealed that China's extractive policy which involves offering infrastructural aid in exchange for oil,it can be argued that China's oil investment is increasingly being viewed as a favorable alternative to the Western incentives for accessing sub-Sahara African oil resources...
