Xu Hang Straw Art Research And Innovative Design Practice Exploration

With the reincarnation of fashion trends,historical products such as "retro" and"nostalgia" have reappeared on the stage and are prevalent in society.In this environment,some traditional handicrafts with unique cultural charms are quietly emerging,including Xu Hang straw weaving.Xu Hang straw weaving originated from the folk and passed down from generation to generation since thousand years ago.In order to meet their own living needs,folk customs and aesthetic concepts.The native people in Xuhang Town,Jiading County,Shanghai have created Xu Hang straw weaving which is abound with distinctive local characteristics.This article takes Xu Hang straw weaving as the basis,explores the development history and crafting techniques of Xu Hang straw weaving,analyzes the innovative design methods of Xu Hang straw weaving,and studies the feasibility of Xu Hang straw weaving in the design of modern home accessories to open up a path of innovation basing on this environment.Divided into seven chapters,this paper mainly studies and analyzes the application of Xu Hang straw weaving and Xu Hang straw weaving in the design of modern home accessories,and carries out innovative design practice based on the conclusions which are drawn from the research.The first chapter is the introduction,which expounds the background,purpose and significance of the research.Then summarizes this report by analyzing the research of Xu Hang straw weaving both in domestic and foreign scholars,including expressing the innovation and key issues of this paper.The second chapter is the overview of Xu Hang straw weaving.Through the study of the literature review,the formation and development of Xu Hang straw weaving as well as the current status and pattern classification of Xu Hang straw weaving were comprehensively sorted out,and a preliminary understanding of Xu Hang straw weaving was compiled.The third chapter discusses techniques of Xu Hang straw weaving,which is mainly discussed from the aspects of material properties,process flow and basic knitting of Xu Hang straw weaving.The author has fully researched the academic thesis and the author also did field visits to the inheritance studio Xu Hang straw weaving in order to understand the humanistic connotation of it.This chapter provides a theoretical basis for the author's subsequent design practice.The fourth chapter introduces the succession and development trend of Xu Hang straw weaving,including three ways.The innovative succession paths of Xu Hang straw weaving include internal folk culture and external crafts.The author analyzes the development trends of Xu Hang straw weaving.The fifth chapter is the application research of Xu Hang straw weaving.Elaborating the two design principles of Xu Hang straw products,that is in line with the needs of modern life and aesthetics.Through the analysis of home accessories foreign fashion brand--straw bag,the author summarizes the innovative design methods in the aspects of the color,pattern,material and craft.Finally,the author expounds the significance of Xu Hang straw weaving in the design of home accessories.The sixth chapter is intreducing the design practice of Xu Hang straw weaving in the design of modern home accessories.According to the internal connection between Xu Hang straw weaving and home accessories,design the home accessories in innovation way from the aspects of plastic arts,material selection,color design and pattern performance which containing modern design language.By practing the thesis theme,starting from its own design practice,the paper aims to explore the feasibility and development prospects of the combination of Xu Hang straw weaving and home accessories design.Through the analysis and research on Xu Hang straw weaving and indoor home accessories,the author will do the design research of this subject from two series,which are "Native","Compatibility" and "Pastoral",a total of 11 design works."Native" is a set of home accessories designed to reflect the modern ecological lifestyle of modern people.It is expressed by original colors,exaggerated unique shapes and modern textile materials."Compatibility" is about green and modern life.A set of works designed with a consistent theme to express the theme through the expression of green and natural colors and the integration of modern soft and hard materials.The "Pastoral" series expresses three different pastoral embroidery techniques on Xu Hang's straw products,making traditional rough knitting techniques and ancient delicate embroidery techniques emit different sparks.Through the three series of design practices to demonstrate the feasibility of this topic,so as to complete the research of this entire topic.
