The 21 century is the era of "Internet +".New media technology provides a new teaching method for design practice teaching.It is more convenient for teachers and students to obtain the latest knowledge at home and abroad.With the advancement of science and technology,digital printing technology has emerged,from traditional batch printing to on-demand printing.The book publishing industry began to experiment with online publishing based on new media technologies,optimizing the traditional reading experience and providing readers with a new way of reading.With the improvement of the material level,the spiritual world needs to be enriched,and people's requirements for books have also increased.They not only pay attention to the content of books,but also pay attention to the physical design of books.This puts higher demands on the designer,not only needs to be designed,but also needs to have more publishing knowledge and printing knowledge.In order to meet the needs of the society for design talents,the school not only expanded the scope of recruitment of art colleges,but also established art design majors in comprehensive universities or science colleges.Art education in China started late,and it was not until the 1990 s that book design courses were listed as key subjects in art.As a compulsory course for visual communication design,the book design course is a comprehensive,cross-cutting and practical course.Students need to learn theoretical knowledge and hands-on practical skills of students.However,many colleges and universities' book design courses still use traditional teaching content,which is not in sync with the actual situation.Instilled teaching methods,lack of training of innovative talents,serious derailment from the market,lack of full process practices and other issues.This paper studies the current state of book design courses through literature,surveys,comparative analysis and case studies.Compare and analyze the curriculum of different colleges and universities,and explore new methods and new ideas for practical teaching of book design courses from pre-press design to printing.Through the analysis of the demand for talents in the design industry,combined with the new media technology,the survey of art colleges and printing houses and pre-press design companies in multi-academic schools,it is important to find how to cultivate design talents to meet the needs of the industry.In the research content,this thesis firstly studies the background of the development of art education in colleges and universities,and compares the research status at home and abroad.It is concluded that there are certain problems in the current teaching mode of western art education in China.Through analysis,mastering the necessary printing-related knowledge plays an important role in the practical teaching of book design courses.Finally,aiming at the main problems in the teaching process of book design course,combined with the development of the times and the background of the industry,we explored new ideas of practical teaching based on digital printing technology and industry workflow,and confirmed the feasibility of teaching ideas through cases.
