Yohji Yamamoto's Fashion Design Research

The design of Yohji Yamamoto is always brave to break the rules and full of surprises.His talents and extraordinary artworks shocked the audiences while the viewer would be moved by the thought-provoking concept of the design.This dissertation will be divided into 5 chapters which will be based on the background and personal experience of Yohji Yamamoto in the early years of his childhood and the influence of those elements on his career.Based on the understanding of artworks by Yamamoto and technical expression of clothing,this paper would analysis the design concept,the expressions and styles of Yamamoto which explores the aesthetics and styles.It would be beneficial to learn the uniqueness of Yamamoto 's expression of design and the brave of daring to criticize and negate for the designer in the process of creation.The first chapter would be started by the introduction of designer Yohji Yamamoto,his family and the impact of the afterwar Japan on his design.Based on this,it would give the analysis of the reasons how Yamamoto become a fashion designer.The third chapter would show the expression of the asymmetrical shape of the clothing design style,the localization of the structure,the personality of the colour and the presentation of the fabric creativity from different perspectives.Then,it would summarize the 'anti-fashion' style,the oriental Zen aesthetic style,the'non-gender' style and the deconstruction style in Yamamoto's costume design from the exploration of fashion design style of Yohji Yamamoto.According to the conclusion of this paper on the Yamamoto's design,it would be valuable for Chinese fashion designer to get a reference in the process of the design.
