A Research Report On Application Of Bai Na Yi Concept In Modern Fashion Design

Bai Na Yi is the clothes which is patched by many pieces of clothing,and has a long history.Until today,this kind of handcraft is still commonly popular.It is not only a way of making clothes,but also represents some lifestyle,such as valuing things,respecting for nature and being frugal.This dissertation's main point is to extract the idea of Bai Na Yi,and apply it in my design,so as to advocate a slower way of life.Bai Na Yi represents economy and frugality,and also represents a concept of pursuing freedom and breaking the rules.It gives us a rich and reconstructed imagination which contains a strong Buddhist sense and cultural atmosphere.I am going to study this project by analyzing the monk's clothes,Bai Na Yi and Shui Tian Yi,which are contained by the Bai Na Yi.And listing the idea of Bai Na Yi,then analyzing the aesthetic features and handcraft of it,and also analyzing the application of Bai Na Yi in modern fashion design with some examples.In this project I will employ design methods such as deconstruction,patching and stack,and clothes recycle to express the idea of Bai Na Yi in a natural and beautiful way.To keep a simple persistence in complicated life is what the Bai Na Yi have taught us.In addition to a common life with ragged clothes and plain food,Bai Na Yi also reveal a monk's state of mind that says happiness is come from inside,which is also a good thinking and enlightenment to us who lead an affluent material life.
