Study On Pollution Situation And Control Countermeasures Of Donghe River Basin Wangcang Section

The Donghe River Basin,the largest river located in Wangcang County,is a branch of the Jialing River.The pollution of the river was increasingly serious due to unreasonable utilization and random discharge of various sewage and waste water for a long period of time,which has seriously affected the normal life of residents on both sides.In order to protect the Donghe River and recreate a good environment with blue sky and green water for the coastal residents,the study was hereby launched to enhance the environmental protection awareness of the relevant sewage units,the general public,strengthen environmental protection behavior,reduce pollution fundamentally,and improve the utilization of resources with clean production,up-to-standard discharge,thus providing decision-making grounds for protection of Donghe River by environmental protection authorities.The study began with a detailed field survey of the Donghe River to identify pollution sources and an experimental analysis on physical,chemical,and biological indicators of water quality to determine the pollution situation and pollution type so as to propose rectification measures and reasonable planning accordingly.Through field survey and analysis of monitoring data,COD and BOD₅ mainly come from domestic sewage along Donghe River Basin Wangcang section.Since October 2012,COD,BOD₅ and NH₃-N have all shown a downward trend after the sewage treatment facilities along the line have been completed and operated.Therefore,the construction of domestic sewage treatment facilities along the line and the supporting pipeline network should continue to be strengthened.Ammonia nitrogen and total phosphorus mainly come from livestock and poultry farming.116 livestock and poultry farms surveyed in the basin were treated with simple septic biogas or returned to the field,and no specialized waste treatment facilities were built.Industrial enterprises and industrial activities are another major source of COD.The wastewater treatment rate of 57 water-related pollution enterprises in 9 towns of Donghe River Basin Wangcang section is only 54%,and the treatment process is simple.For the pollution problems existing in the Donghe River,some countermeasures were put forward.It was urgent to strengthen the protection of drinking water sources,enhance the governance,supervision and management of industrial pollution enterprises,ensure the normal operation of sewage treatment facilities in enterprises along the river,and stabilize the discharge of pollutants to the standard.Equally important is to improve the dredging of the river channel to unblock the channel,promote the ecological protection of the river to improve conservation capacity of water and soil,accelerate the construction of the domestic sewage and the supporting facilities in the urban and rural areas to effectively improve the treatment rate of domestic sewage,and improve the ability to dispose of domestic garbage along the river.It was also of great significant to strengthen the publicity of environmental protection,create a favorable environment for governance,promote the planting of ecological and organic crops,and reduce pollution from agricultural sources.
