British ecological Marxism is one of the most important schools of Marxism abroad in the 20th century. The central topic of its theoretical research is whether the realistic socialist movement can be combined with modern ecology.Around this central issue, the school launched a deep and intense debate on how to understand the nature, whether there is limit of nature and the essence of capitalist contradiction, and tried to build a better ecological socialist society in the future.British ecological Marxism is the convergence point of the theoretical debate of ecological Marxism in the twentieth century. It has two theoretical factions:one is the ecological centralism represented by Ted Benton;the other is the anthropocentrism represented by David Pepper and Renee Glenderman. The two theoretical schools of eco-Marxism in Britain and their differences are divided into five parts:The first part is an introduction, mainly introducing the significance of this topic and the current research situation of the divergence between the two theoretical schools of ecology and Marxism in Britain at home and abroad, the research methods, innovations and shortcomings adopted in this paper. The second part is the first chapter of the full text, mainly introducing the causes of the differences between the two theoretical schools, starting from the historical status and historical status of British ecology Marxist, including the theoretical germination, early exploration and development evolution of the differences between the two theoretical schools of British ecology. The third part is the second chapter of the full text, mainly introducing Ted Benton,David Pepper and Renee Glenderman, the main representatives and main points of view of British ecological Marxism. There are fierce debates on the core issues of anthropocentrism or ecocentrism, whether to dominate or adapt to nature, whether Marxism recognizes the limits of nature, whether eco-socialism or the green political model of eco-autonomy.The fourth part is the third chapter of the full text, mainly introducing the reflection and Enlightenment of the different schools of eco-Marxist theory in Britain, and discussing the Enlightenment from two aspects of theoretical achievements and theoretical deficiencies. And what are the specific Enlightenments of the differences between the two theoretical schools of ecological Marxism in Britain to the practice of contemporary China?Analyzing and sorting out the two theoretical schools and their differences of eco-Marxism in Britain is not only the inherent requirement of studying eco-Marxist theory, but also a realistic concern for understanding the ecological implication of Marx's historical materialism. At present, the key fulcrum of resolving the global ecological crisis and promoting the construction of ecological civilization lies in resolving the internal relationship between people and people, between people and nature, between people and society. This study will not only help us to deepen our overall understanding of eco-Marxism in Britain, but also help us to strengthen our theoretical self-confidence in using Marx's historical materialism ecological thought to analyze realistic ecological environment problems through comparative study.Marx's ecological thought of historical materialism is of great significance for us to set up the ecological civilization view of socialism with Chinese characteristics in the new era,to promote the formation of a new pattern of modernization construction in which man and nature coexist harmoniously,to build a beautiful China and to realize the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.
