Research On The Relationship Among Top Management Team Heterogeneity,Safety Investment And Corporate Safety Performance

The enterprise is the main unit responsible for safe production.The top management team who is the first responsible person of enterprise safety production bears heavier corporate social responsibility while formulating strategic planning and implementing strategic control to obtain enterprise development and good economic benefits.And the pressure of safe production.Traditionally,companies have increased their safety investment and assumed more corporate social responsibility,which is not conducive to saving money,increasing the cost of enterprises and possibly reducing the economic benefits of enterprises.As people's attention to environmental degradation and corporate emergencies continues to rise,more companies have gradually realized the importance of social responsibility and improving safety performance,which not only meets the needs of society,but also makes society better and more It has shaped a good image of enterprises participating in social governance and returning to the society to become rich.It has become an effective way for enterprises to gain competitiveness while expanding their social influence and gaining social support.As the highest decision-making level of the enterprise,the top management team plays an important role in the strategic management and corporate governance of maintaining competitive advantage.The differences in the characteristics of the enterprise top management team will greatly influence the strategic choice of the enterprise,affecting the formulation of the security investment strategy,and may ultimately affect the security performance of the entire enterprise.From the research of their respective variables,the research on the TMT heterogeneity and the performance of corporate safety is not a new research field.However,from the perspective of domestic and foreign literature research,the relationship between the two is included in the unified research path.The conclusion is still rare.It can be seen that how the TMT heterogeneity affects the security performance of the enterprise is still an unopened “black box”.Based on the theory of high ladder team,social identity theory and corporate social responsibility theory,this paper links and observes the actual situation of enterprises,starts from the characteristics of enterprise top management,explores the impact mechanism on corporate safety performance,and introduces safety investment as an intermediary.Further verify the mediation delivery path.This paper studies the research paradigm of "Feature-Performance",and introduces the enterprise security investment as a mediator variable according to the logic of "Feature-Behavior-Result",and constructs the research of "TMT heterogeneity-Safety investment-Corporate safety performance" Path,explore the relationship between TMTheterogeneity and corporate safety performance,and analyze its intrinsic influence mechanism from two aspects: main effect and mediation effect.Based on the theoretical basis of the research,namely high ladder team theory,corporate social responsibility theory and social identity theory,theoretical analysis is carried out and research hypotheses are proposed based on existing literature research.This paper takes 104 listed high-risk enterprises as the research object,and defines a total of 312 research samples in the time span from 2014 to2017.Drawing on the research design of domestic and foreign scholars,selecting objective evaluation indicators,using Excel,Stata14.0 measurement software,empirical research The relationship between TMT heterogeneity and corporate safety performance.The results of empirical research show that: First,among the listed companies in high-risk industries,TMT age heterogeneity and TMT gender heterogeneity have a significant negative correlation with corporate safety performance,TMT age heterogeneity and gender.Heterogeneity has a significant negative correlation with safety investment;while the TMT tenure heterogeneity,there is no significant correlation between safety investment and corporate safety performance.Second,in high-risk industry listed companies,safety investment plays a part in mediating the TMT age heterogeneity and corporate safety performance;safety investment plays a role in TMT gender heterogeneity and corporate safety performance.Full mediation;safety investment does not play a significant intermediary role in the TMT tenure heterogeneity and corporate safety performance.Finally,combined with the results of the empirical test,this paper provides reference suggestions for the construction of TMT in high-risk industries and the emphasis on safety investment,and proposes a prospect for the research shortage.
