Mineral resource is a kind of precious resource that can't be regenerated, and its storage capacity is limited, which has an important influence on the development of the country and the human life. The ore sorting is one of the most important parts in the whole minerals production process, which is a process that according to the different physical, chemical properties of minerals in the ore,to separate the useful minerals and gangue minerals. In this paper, the ore sorting system based on XRF is studied, and mainly discussed the theoretical basis of XRF sorting, designed the structure of XRF sorting machine, and the separation and control system were studied according to the sorting requirements.Specific contents are as follows:(1)This paper summarizes and analyzes the four common types of ore sorting technology, and emphatically introduces the X-ray fluorescence separation technology to be used in the text. The paper introduces the current situation of the X-ray fluorescence separation technology at home and abroad. It is a new,low-cost,environmentally friendly and efficient technology, and has become the focus of future ore sorting. So the research on ore sorting technology based on the XRF is the key of ore sorting.(2)This paper introduces the properties of X-ray,the theoretical basis of qualitative and quantitative analysis of X-ray fluorescence, which leads to the principle of ore sorting based on XRF.In this paper, the composition of XRF sorting detection system is briefly introduced, and the using of X-ray detector in the sorting process is studied.(3)The mechanical structure of XRF sorting machine was designed, and the feasibility analysis of CAE was carried out by using the analysis software. The three-dimensional modeling of the sorting machine is completed by using Solidworks, and the static and modal analyses of the frame are carried out by using ANSYS,to ensure the strength and stiffness of the frame to meet the design requirements,at the same time through the optimization of the frame structure, avoid the resonance phenomenon in the sorting process.(4)The separation requirements of the ore are analyzed, and the separation system based on XRF is designed, including the dynamic calculation, the pneumatic principle diagram and the selection of pneumatic components.Based on the structures of the pneumatic solenoid directional control valve, the pneumatic pressure regulator and the pneumatic cylinder, the mathematic models are established, and AMESim software is used to simulate the important pneumatic components and the whole pneumatic system.(5)XRF sorting control system is studied. This paper introduces the programming software STEP7-Micro/WIN corresponding to S7-200,and according to the sorting control flow chart, the PLC ladder diagram program is compiled, and finally set up the test bench to verify. The result shows that the design of the sorting machine frame can meet the requirement of sorting, and the stress and strain of the frame are within the allowable deformation range, the strength and rigidity can also meet the design requirements. The optimized low frequency is far different from the excitation source frequency, which can avoid resonance. As to the XRF sorting pneumatic system designed by computational analysis,by means of mathematical modeling and AMESim's simulation on the aerodynamic components and the entire system, the paper finally proves the reasonableness of the design of the pneumatic system, which can meet the requirement of XRF separation. The ladder program written by PLC is used to realize the control of the electromagnetic valve in the sorting pneumatic system so as to separate the ore without the target element from the ore containing the target element.
