Palm trees are abundantly distributed in temperate and tropical regions,and palm fiber is an important natural resource.In recent years,there have been many studies on the more scientific use of palm fiber.In this paper,palm fiber was used as the research object,and the following aspects were studied,and the following results were obtained.First,the morphology and structure of palm fiber were studied.The tree-shaped structure of palm monofilament was first discovered,which is an important supplement to the linear morphology of natural fibers.The palm fiber tree bifurcation structure has a first-degree bifurcation,a second-stage bifurcation and a multi-stage bifurcation,and is a unique structure.Diameter testing of different parts of palm fiber using optical microscopy showed that the diameter distribution of different parts of palm fiber varied greatly.The overall shape of the brown sheet was observed with a digital camera and it was found that the brown sheet was a natural biaxial fabric structure.The structural characteristics of palm fiber were observed by scanning electron microscopy.The results showed that the root and middle part were covered by a large number of scaly materials,the surface of the tip fiber was relatively smooth,and the bifurcated fiber was separated from the main body.The surface morphology was basically consistent with the main fiber.The palm fiber surface protective film was tested by infrared spectrometer.The results showed that the chemical structure and composition of the protective film and the main fiber were basically similar.Secondly,the fiber-related properties of palm fiber alkali after scouring were studied.The palm fiber is scoured by NaOH,and the longer the scouring time,the greater the weight loss rate.The surface morphology of the palm fiber was observed by scanning electron microscopy,indicating that the surface of the untreated palm fiber was uneven and covered by a large amount of scaly material.After scouring,the scalylike material falls off,and vertical stripes formed by the arrangement of internal single fibers appear on the surface.After scouring,the moisture regain of the palm fiber is improved,the moisture absorption performance is better,the time required to reach the moisture absorption and dehumidification balance becomes longer,and the moisture absorption and desorption rate is improved.Palm fiber was tested by infrared spectrometer.The results showed that the pectin,hemicellulose and hydrophobic substances on the fiber surface were removed by scouring,and the cellulose and lignin were removed in a small amount.The removal of hydrophobic materials is a major cause of the improvement in the hydrophilicity of palm fibers.Finally,the trace components of palm fiber were studied.The biological components of palm fiber are extremely complex.HPLC analysis of the ethanol/water extract showed that the extract had two main types of retention time: 5 min and retention time of 28 min,and each type was clearly composed of different substances.Refining can remove some of the material,but it cannot be completely removed.The composition of the ethanol extract of palm fiber is more complicated.As the composition of the extract of the alkali scouring is relatively simple,the relative content of the substance also changes,indicating that some alkali components have different degrees of alkali scouring.Removal is due to the fact that the binding fastness of these minor components to palm fibers is different.The GC/MS analysis of the ethanol extract showed that the palm fiber contained at least trace components such as halogenated hydrocarbons,olefins,phenols,heterocyclic compounds,cycloalkanes,esters,acids,amides,and saturated alkanes.The research relationship of palm fiber contributes to its rational use,and the research in this paper still needs to be further studied.
