Research On Brocaded Embroidery Of The Miao Nationality In Taijiang,guizhou Province And Its Innovation And Application In Costume Design

The embroidery the Miao Nationality is a folk handicraft inherited among the Miao people.It is a living carrier of the Miao history and a perfect embodiment of the industriousness and wisdom of the Miao people.The traditional Miao clothing is dubbed "a history book worn on the body".As a legendary ancient nationality,the Miao in Taijiang also call their brocaded embroidery as couching stitch or embroidery,which is an important part of the Miao embroidery craftsmanship.As a unique embroidery technique in the areas of Taijiang and Leishan,Guizhou Province,the Miao brocaded embroidery is characterized by complex techniques and exquisite patterns,which are exhibited in the traditional costumes,shoes,hats and accessories of the Miao people,highly practical and appreciative,perfectly presenting the good expectations for life and the reverence for nature of the working people in this region.Combined with the systematic analysis on the development situation,the materials used,the production craftsmanship,the pattern decoration,the color matching and the cultural connotation of the Miao brocaded embroidery as well as the similar embroidery craftsmanship of other ethnic groups,this paper deeply discusses the cultural value behind the Miao brocaded embroidery in Taijiang,and applies it to the contemporary costume design after innovation so as to enhance the public awareness of the excellent traditional culture,promote it and increase cultural self-confidence.This paper aims to spread and develop this endangered traditional embroidery craftsmanship through deeply exploring it.
