The Sanitary Product Design For Urban Empty-nesters Based On Universal Design Thoery

With the progress of society,people's living standard has been continuously improved,and the population average life expectancy steady increases.Which results in that the aging of population is becoming a more and more prominent social problem.In addition,since the intensification of cross-regional social mobility and the evolvement of family structure,the number of empty-nester is growing apace.Many problems empty-nester has faced in daily life has become increasingly prominent,and that has attracted more and more attention by the State and society.Design is an important way to improve people's living environment and the quality of life.As designers,we should use design method to help empty-nesters which is an vulnerable group to solve problems in their daily life.Through the targeted research,the supplementing the design theory about the empty nesters has great theoretical and practical significance.Focused on the sanitary products problems that the empty-nesters may encounter in the daily life,this article has finished the analysis and research of the current status of urban empty-nesters sanitary products design in China and the collection and arrangement of sanitary products at home and abroad.And this article will introduce the universal design theory to the design of the sanitary products of the urban empty-nesters.Through market research,user interviews and other methods,the reseach analyze the pain point of the urban empty-nesters during use the sanitary products,and summarize the physiological needs,psychological needs,consumption idea of urban empty-nesters about the sanitary products.Then,on the basis of the user requirements,combined with the methods of adjustable design and modular design,the research put forward the strategies of sanitary products which is generic and apply to the urban empty-nesters,including design elements,principles and methods.At last of the article,applying these design strategies to practice of the sanitary products of the urban empty-nesters,and take the washstand design of the urban empty-nesters as an example to explain the design strategies and then put forward a specific design scheme.
