The wedge-shaped timber guide is an overwinding protection device used in mine shaft hoisting system since the last century,which is widely used as a traditional overwinding protection device.In China,the wedge-shaped timber guide has been widely used in mines,especially small and medium-sized metal mines due to its less cost and replacement convenience.Currently,many new designed mines in China use wedge-shaped timber guide and other types of overwinding protection devices at the same time due to the using habits and other reasons.However,there are many deficiencies in the practical use of the wedge-shaped timber guide device.The wedge-shaped timber guide will be squeezed and cracked or chipped in the case that the braking distance is long.In fact,quantitative analysis on the performance of wedge-shaped timber guide is insufficient in the previous studies.Therefore,the failure of the wedge-shaped timber guide is badly uncertain.This paper performs some theoretical analysis and numerical simulation of the wedge-shaped timber guide during the overwinding protection.The specific research contents are as follows:1.The reasons for the overwinding of shaft hoisting systems are summarized,and the research progress of the overwinding protection technology at home and abroad is reviewed.2.A theoretical analysis is implemented for the overwinding braking process of the wedge-shaped timber guide.The analytical solution of the braking distance of the lifting container during overwinding is deduced based on the instantaneous calculation method.Moreover,the superiority and accuracy improvement of the instantaneous calculation method over the traditional deceleration method is verified by an actual example.3.The overwinding braking process of wedge-shaped wooden canister is simulated by the ANSYS/LS-DYNA software.4.The influence mechanism of different factors to the overwinding braking process is investigated,and the factors contain the initial velocity of the overwinding,material of the wedge wood and the load.
