This paper uses camellia seeds,which are the fruits of special edible woody oil-bearing plants in Guangxi,as its research object to study the cold-squeezed method of camellia oil.It studies the influence of cold squeeze,hot squeeze,and solvent extraction methods on the quality of camellia oil while focusing on the extraction of tea saponin from tea bran using hydro-solvent.The main research contents and results are as follow.1.The extraction process from canellia seeds to camellia oilBy taking the quality of the oil,yield,energy consumption,production costs,equipment investment and the like into consideration throughout the whole extraction process,the test shows that after using the cold-squeezed method to obtain camellia oil from unshelled camellia seeds the yield of cold-squeezed camellia oil,oil percentage and extraction ratio are 25.2%(w/w),29.8%and 84.5%respectively with the optimization of the processing conditions.By using cold-squeezed method,hot-squeezed method(including screw press and hydraulic pressure)and solvent-extraction method to extract oil from eamellia seeds from Bama,Yufeng,Tianlin,Guilin,Ganxi,Luoding,and Vietnam,etc,the results show that camellia seeds from Bama have the highest yield whereas those from Vietnam have the lowest yield.2.The influence of processing methods on the quality of camellia oilAfter using Camellia seeds from the same area to make component analyses of hot-squeezed method,cold-squeezed method,fruits soaking method and tea bran soaking method,the results indicate that the linoleic acid and oleic acid of the hot-squeezed camellia oil are 8.74%and 76.65%respectively,whereas those two of the cold-squeezed camellia oil are 5.99%and 80.61%respectively.With the fruits soaking method,they are 5.62%and 80.53%respectively,whereas tea bran soaking method enables camellia oil to have 5.27%linoleic acid and 77.03%oleic acid.In other words,cold-squeezed and fruits soaking methods provide better oil.The test results of acid value,peroxide value and carbonyl value show that the data of cold-squeezed camellia oil are relatively low.camellia oil obtained by hot-squeezed method might result in higher Benzo(?)pyrene,which exceeds the standard,while cold-squeezed method doesn,t produce any Benzo(?)pyrene.In other words,cold-squeezed method is excellent for camellia oil extraction.3.Tea bran's saponin extraction process with cold-squeezed methodThe author uses water as solvent to extract tea saponin from cold-squeezed tea bran,and get tea saponin product through the adsorption and desorption of AB-8 resin and the purification and separation of recrystal.The tea saponin of this product tested by infrared spectroscopy.Its content of tea saponin is 99.2%according to the quantitative analysis of high performance liquid chromatography.
