The Influence Of Power On Environmental Risk Attitude In The Perspective Of Construal Levels

Environmental problems,as the main subject in our society today,whether in domestic or international background,have attracted enough attention from the government and scholars.China had in further clarify the guiding ideology and system construction of environmental governance in the 13th Five-Year Plan.Put forward higher requirements for environmental risk management and control.Construal level theory as a social cognitive theory,from the four dimensions of time,space,social and probability,made a strong explanation to many social phenomena.Researchers began to pay attention to the application of this theory in the field of environmental psychology.The mental representation of individual will be affected by psychological distance,and the change of psychological distance will lead to changes in the level of interpretation,and then affect the individual’s attitude and behavior evaluation.In the field of environmental psychology,it was performance as environmental attitude and environmental behavior.She et al.(2010)found that psychological distance can affect the individual’s perception of environmental risk systematically.This study from the perspective of construal level theory to discuss different environmental governance subject to environmental risk attitudes and preferences,has both theoretical and practical significance.Study one use the single factor between group design.Under the background of nuclear energy development,the influence of different decision maker to environmental risk attitude.Study found that in the behavioral intention,and between the two groups exist significant differences,"government officials" group than the group of ordinary citizens "are more likely to support the development of nuclear energy;and in the attitude of the nuclear energy development evaluation,no significant difference between the two groups.But,"government officials "group than the group of ordinary citizens" are more likely to hold a positive attitude.Study two using implicit association test method to verify the power as the psychological distance dimension,its operation is effective.The decision maker to further refine to a variable is power,and try to put this variable into the psychological distance in the theoretical model,to accomplish this goal,we need to explore the effectiveness of operation first.Study found that subjects for compatible task(low power tag words and specific tag word pairs,high power class label words and abstract class label word pairs)reaction is significant shorter than incompatible task of reaction.Based on the operation effectiveness test,study three further discusses the impact of power for environmental risk attitude.Reference Galinsky et al.(2003)sense of power priming paradigm,the power for the operation of high power and low power two level,statistical results,two groups of subjects had significant differences in attitudes to environmental risk,launched a high sense of power subjects than launched the low power sense is more inclined to support the development of nuclear energy and for potential environmental risk acceptance attitude.Study four further explored whether framing effect exists in the power dimension.Still to the risk of nuclear energy development as the background of environmental risk,was to investigate the mixed experimental design found there was significant difference in the frame properties,under the framework,subjects are more likely to choose the deterministic scheme,and in the frame loss,were more likely to go to adventure program.But at different power levels,and found that there is no significance.The above four studies can be considered as a difference between the nature of power environment governance,will have an impact on environmental risk perception and preference.Power as a factor into the model of psychological distance theory,the operation is effective and impact on environment risk attitude has the same path with the other four dimensions(time,space,society and probability),and the model of psychological distance from the original four dimensions to the five dimensions.
