Plain Soul Image:Study On Bouyei Women's Clothes In Anshun,Guizhou Province

This paper studies the clothes of the Bouyei women in Anshun,Guizhou Province,which contains six representative regions: Huohua,Gangwu,Huajiang,Duanqiao,Dabang and Machang.Based on the collections of Beijing Institute of Fashion and Technology Ethnic Costume Museum and field investigation,it compares and analyzes different ages,regions and types of Anshun Bouyei women's clothes.This thesis discusses the development and evolution of the Anshun Bouyei women's clothes and the external manifestation of its “plain” characteristics from four aspects: shape,material,color and decoration,supported by physical data and historical documents.It explores the underlying causes of the plain "emotion" of Anshun Bouyei women's clothes from the aspect of natural resources,living environment,functional needs and spiritual worship.This paper not only analyzes the formation and development of plain aesthetics of the Bouyei people,but also reveals the significance and influence of ancestor worship on the inheritance of Bouyei women's costumes.The work might be useful for the study of traditional national costume and the modern design in the near future.
